DJ Lubi and Fabio Bahia are proud to present live onstage Colombia's hottest new salsa dura/mambo group La-33, Friday 4th July at STYLUS, Leeds University! This is an exclusive Northern gig! Please note : there are no Manchester, Sheffield or Liverpool dates on the UK tour.
The 12 piece band hail from Bogota and are famed for their hard-driving live sets of old school salsa dura, mambo and boogaloo as heard on their two CD releases to date, "La 33" and "Gozalo". In 2005, they scored the major international salsa hit "La Pantera", their cover of Henry Mancini's "Pink Panther Theme", redone by the band as a hard-hitting salsa/mambo dancefloor killer! In 2007, their 2nd CD "Gozalo" was in the Colombian salsa top ten charts for most of the autumn!
Support for La 33 comes from the North's finest DJs. DJ Lubi (Fania Records) and Fabio Bahia have run or been resident at Leeds' best salsa and latino parties for over a decade now - Casa Latina, Salsoul!, Carnaval, 100% Latino, Viva Cuba! They are joined by special guest DJ Emma Moore, the UK's top female salsa DJ, resident at Manchester's famous Salsology club night and co-promoter of the huge salsa events Britfest and GBSEx. Plus Carnaval/Viva Cuba DJ Silvao playing his 100% salsa set.
To warm you up, top Leeds salsa dance teacher Nicky Lloyd Greame (The Salsaholics) will be taking an early doors intermediates dance class from 9.00pm to 10.00pm -salsa CBL style on1 (turn patterns and footwork). Plus salsa danceshows prior to the band going onstage (around 11.30pm) from Tony Lara & Daniella De Franesca (Italy) and Jimmy SA's Latin Connection group (Newcastle).
